If you are reading this, thanks! I moved, and I need to get a new photo-uploader thing. In the mean time, bear with me. Also, my computer crashed, but thanks to Apple’s fantastic warranty program I have a new hard drive with 20 more gigs of memory and Leopard all for FREE DOLLARS. I was high and dry for a bit, but now I am swimming again (ahhhhh, metaphors…)

Please tell me about good music. All of my music went bye-bye with my old hard drive. I know, I should have had it backed up… but not all of it was.

We went to dinner at Sepia the other night for a celebratory evening, and it was well worth it. One of the most fun dining experiences I have ever had.

I’ve read a few books this summer: Blindness, Dance Dance Dance, Veganomicon, The Sound and The Fury (again).

I’ve watched some movies. I forgot how cute “Amelie” is, and am glad I waited until I was 25 to watch “The Opposite of Sex.”

This summer has also involved a Buffy Marathon, not dissimilar to last summer’s (ahem Ms. Gallagher) However, it hit home more because my computer was broken and my cell phone has been on the fritz (for the past year, I know). 1999 felt like a natural place to be. If only I could find my chunky heels.

I quit my office job and am enjoying the pace of my new pursuits.

More soon.

apt apt.

Man, I love a good use of abbreviation/ fun words. Well, we got the apartment in the sunny Ukrainian Village neighborhood of Chicago. I’ll be sad to leave Logan Square, but happy to live on a residential street. We won’t move in until July, but it is really nice to not have to worry about looking for an apartment during June, when it will hopefully (finally) be warm outside forever, or at least until November. The other advantage to getting our apartment stuff set up a month before we move is the fact that we’ll be able to paint/ organize prior to our move in date. That way, it will be move-in ready and we won’t have to unpack twice.
I did a rough sketch of the layout.
Photobucket

I’m only seeing a few problems with the place at the moment.
1. Paint colors (the kitchen is navy blue, yuck)
2. Lack of storage in kitchen (there are no cabinets in the kitchen, but there is a butler’s pantry)
3. Lack of storage in bathroom (there are no cabinets in the bathroom…)
4. Light fixtures/ it is a little dark (this might change when we paint the place)

ps- I know that this is not about food or recipes, but it is really the only thing I want to imagine about/ plan right now…

slacker

I apologize! I haven’t updated. I actually haven’t been cooking very much over the past week or so, much to my chagrin. Hence, I have no pictures or delicious recipes for sharing.
However, it hasn’t been too dismal… I have had the privilage of eating several good meals, most noticeably “Indiana Chicken” and potato salad at a bbq last night (I know! BBQ! It’s happening!) I’ve also been eating a lot of delicious veggie burgers, and, on Friday Sarah and I made some very successful anchovy pizzas and some kind of unsuccessful Mai-Tais. Anybody know where to get Orgeat Syrup? We didn’t really have all the ingredients, so it wasn’t totally our fault that it didn’t work out, well I guess it actually was- if we had planned accordingly. I just found this awesome website. What did we do before the internet?

we set the table for breakfast

Currently on location in Siesta Key, Florida. Surprisingly, there is wireless internet AND a platform for uploading pictures to my computer. Hanging out with Clara Lou and John (Grandma and Grandpa, respectively) They picked me up from the airport yesterday and we went to Barnacle Bill’s Seafood for a quick “soup and salad.” Tamiami Trail might not be the most attractive street, but it does have the coolest name. After a that meal, we drove back to the condo and chatted for awhile.

This is my Grandpa, relaxing on a Saturday night:

I was in bed by 11:30 (10:30 Chicago time!) and awake by 8:30 (7:30 Chicago time, you get the idea) When I woke up, Grandma was in the kitchen cooking bacon and pancakes, and the table was set.
Photobucket

I had 2 kinds of juices, and coffee, just like at a restaurant.

The blueberry pancakes were amazing! My Grandma apologized for using pancake mix, which I can only see a woman from her generation OR some weirdo foodie (ahem) apologizing for. She used way more blueberries than Cozy Corner and it tasted that much more delicious, also probably because my grandma made them.

Recently, Grandma and Grandpa have found they prefer bacon cooked in the microwave because it is crispier. Sometimes, I agree

We also had a long discussion regarding their switch to real maple syrup as opposed to the kind you get in the plastic pitcher. I have to say I am very happy with this switch.

let’s start from the top, shall we?

again, i have neglected my fair blog. baby, i’m sorry. i think about you and wince like maybe how some people do when they don’t put money in the salvation army thing outside the grocery store. so i’m back, but i’m not making any promises. i’m around, you’re around sometimes it works out. usually on a tuesday after work, when i need even more fun qt in front of a computer screen. we can begin with yesterday. i filled up on winter skirts at the thrift store by my house. then i went to see margot at the wedding which was sad but good and funny like the squid and the whale (same director i think) then i made two soups: curry cauliflower and carrot cardamom. which should prove to be quite handy since it’s christmas season and i’ve given up buying lunch so i can buy the people i love books and pictures! i went to be early last night, it was nice.

let’s move backwards to sunday.
sunday began with me making pizza dough.
