variation
so in case you were wondering, i haven’t had a cigarette in a whole month. the month that includes halloween and the last gasp of summer. i started doing bikram yoga and got a new phat helmut, after i got doored.
anyways, we had some ingredients left over and g came up with the idea of mexican caprese salad. genius!
the ingredients are
tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, ripe avocado, olive oil, salt, limes, and cilantro.
it is really great! i haven’t been able to stop thinking about it all day. we used these uglyripe tomatoes. which were really good. i don’t know too much about them, but i remember hearing something about how they were not allowed to cross statelines or something last year. enlightenment is appreciated, if you know anything i’d like to too!
eating at home is cheaper
than eating at restaurants, and usually more tasty, if you play your cards right.
we started by making the dough on thursday night, using this recipe.
we took the dough out on saturday night. and formed it into flat pies.
i made the sauce using tomato paste, garlic, basil, olive oil, sugar, salt, and lots of hot peppers.
we sauteed frozen artichokes in balsamic vinegar and garlic.
then we sauteed the mushrooms in olive oil
gerard put some sauce on a pizza
i got a pizza stone, because i am serious about making pizza.
it turned out pretty great.
one of my more successful culinary experiments.
i asked mary if she would pay money for it, and she said… yes!
then we played cards after a brief field trip to a home gallery where i watched a cat version of star wars.
it was fun.
we are really competitive.
mary learned how to play rummy
gerard is a cardshark… during sharkweek.
i am pleased it is sweater season, btw.

in the meantime, a quick update. the weekend was good (almost a week ago!)
took myself out to dinner on friday
to celebrate/commemorate the end of my current relationship with this book:
fantastic book. going to the dominican republic in april because of it with ms. lopez-betanzos. officially obsessed with junot diaz.
saturday was work after the most beautiful coffee drink ever.
after work, i swear these shoes were just hanging out by a trashcan.
saturday evening
i was mod, danielle was a biker (dead).
this huge dog was at the party
as were carmex and captain crunch!
monday we helped nat with her installation.
it might look like a sweatshop, but it was fun.
